The Philadelphia Eagles won their first Super Bowl February 4, 2018 against the New England Patriots. A major reason was a beautifully designed and perfectly executed trick play called the Philly Special. With 38 seconds left in the 2nd quarter, the Eagles were ahead 15-12 and had a 4th and goal at the Patriots 1 yard line. Instead of kicking a short field goal, Nick Foles stood in a shotgun formation, he then moved toward the right side of the line of scrimmage. The ball was snapped directly to running back Corey Clement. Clement ran to his left and pitched the ball to Trey Burton, an Eagles tight end, who ran to the center of the field and lofted the ball to a wide open Foles for a touchdown. The play extended the lead to 22-12 at halftime and propelled the Eagles to a 41-33 victory.
