The game referred to as the “Miracle in Miami” was played between the Boston College Eagles and the Miami Hurricanes on November 23rd, 1984 at the Orange Bowl in Miami Florida. With six seconds left on the game clock and the Eagles trailing 45-41, Doug Flutie called the “55 Flood Tip” play, which receivers the three receivers lined up on the right side of the line of scrimmage  and ran straight routes into the end zone. Flute scrambled to his right and threw a 48 yard pass into the end zone into the awaiting arms of Gerard Phelan to give the Eagles a 47-45 thrilling victory over the Hurricanes.
