In 1991, the No. 2 ranked Michigan Wolverines were hanging onto a fourth quarter 17-14 lead over No. 7th ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Facing a fourth and 1 from the Irish 35, Michigan went for it. Elvis Grbac pumped fake to the flat, then lofted the ball to Desmond Howard. The pass appeared to be overthrown but Howard left his feet and came up with a diving catch in the end zone to clinch the 24-14 victory.
